CALL FOR ABSTRACTS!

2nd Annual UCSD Interfaces Research Symposium:

Shaping Discovery in Biomedicine Through Technological Innovation

 Friday, June 13, 2008
9am-1:30pm
Natural Sciences Building Auditorium

The UCSD Interfaces Research Symposium offers an unprecedented opportunity to share your work with peers and learn about new tools for biological discovery.  The goal of this annual event is to promote networking and dialogue among graduate students across all disciplines of science and engineering.  All students conducting biomedical research, regardless of how interdisciplinary, are encouraged to submit abstracts.  Abstracts will be considered by the Organizing Committee for poster and podium presentations.  Three abstracts which best exemplify this year's theme will be chosen for short podium presentations.  Students selected for this honor will then compete for the top prize of $200, to be awarded during the symposium. 1st and 2nd runners up will receive $100 and $50 prizes respectively.

Abstracts should be 300 words or less and can be submitted electronically using the form below.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED
The submission deadline was Wednesday, June 4th at 3:00PM.

In line with this year's theme and the mission of the Interfaces Program, abstracts will be scored based on the following criteria:
  • Communication:  The work is described such that it may be understood and appreciated by a broad, interdisciplinary audience
  • Approach: The work demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach to biomedical research
  • Innovation: The originality of the work is clearly evident
