Curriculum: Lab 4
MRI Principles and Techniques
Course Summary
This lab course will cover basic principles of MRI and key applications, including anatomical imaging, scanner hardware, fMRI, perfusion imaging, diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, and microscopy. This will be accomplished through 1 hour per week of formal instruction and 4 hours of hands-on training. We encourage students to come with a project in mind, such as a thesis project, but this is not required. MRI is a highly flexible tool, but using this tool effectively requires a solid understanding of the foundations of the methods plus a practical understanding of the trade-offs that must be balanced. This course will primarily use hands-on training on MRI systems, but will also include numerical analysis and simulations to deepen the student's understanding of the principles involved.
