Research Description:

In the McKittrick lab and Center for Biological, Bioinspired and Bio-materials, I'm working on two main projects.

The first topic of my project is a traumatic brain injury prevention method learned from nature by using woodpecker model is my first topic. In addition, I'm also interested in the nature of ultra-high strength keratin fibers of hagfish slime, which is getting from Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

The second topic is bioinspired materials design. I'm focusing on a study of 1) ECAP process for biodegradable magnesium alloy as a medical implant and 2) Mg-HA scaffold composite design as an implantable metal/ceramic biodegradable device.
