Research Description: 

Valuable work has been done linking smaller scale biological simulation programs, but much less work has been done on larger scale programs. To improve simulations on the biological mesoscale, I will link together three different programs (cellPACK, BrownDye and SDA), allowing us to simulate longer timescale, more complex processes such as cell signaling while still using more accurate particle-based methods. Finally, I will use these programs to simulate how sialic acid associates with neuraminidase and hemagglutinin to study key characteristics of influenza.
