Domain Science
Dr. Trotter provides research training in neural circuit development and function across the lifespan, in both healthy and disease states. His lab specializes in uncovering the molecular mechanisms of astrocyte–neuron communication at tripartite synapses, with a particular focus on their roles in social learning and the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia.
Technology
Dr. Trotter offers research training in super-resolution microscopy techniques, 3D-STED, to investigate the nanoscopic organization of cell-cell interactions in the brain, with a focus on astrocyte-synapse contacts at tripartite synapses.
